Background and Identification
The Grand Prix underwent a major redesign for the 1997 model year. Initial trim levels were the SE and GT; a GTP package was an available option on the GT, and later became its own trim package. The Grand Prix came with either a 3.1 L V6 or a 3.8 L V6; the GTP package featured a supercharged version of the 3.8 L. The only available transmission was a 4-speed automatic.
