Released in September 2001 with the model number: C21-0111. This lens replaced the Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L USM lens, with the addition of a new IS system and an improved optical design.

How to remove interior fungus...etc.

I'm looking for a step by step disassembly, cleaning (fungus and stuff)and reassembly. Anybody?

Hey!

This is the same reason I took apart my 90-300mm lens, and I did end up cleaning all the gunk out. BUT - I would highly recommend going to a professional with this one, because this is a much more complicated lens. If you really do want to take it apart, I would do a quick Google search on disassembly, and then take it apart and clean it carefully with a microfiber cloth. Make sure to document which screws go where, and take pictures of each step and what you did. Good luck!

For fungus inside that lens, I’d be careful about a full DIY teardown because the optical groups need to go back in exactly the same orientation and spacing.

A safer starting point is to remove the rear mount and inspect where the fungus is located. If it’s on an accessible element, cleaning may be possible, but fungus between sealed optical groups usually calls for a lens technician.
