WPA Colourwave CO7500 Colorimeter Issue

Hi! Our school laboratory owns a WPA Colourwave CO7500 Colorimeter model which was working fine last school year. Today, we turned on the colorimeter and on the upper left, a "lamp" symbol appeared and keeps flashing. When we try to take a reference, it takes too long and doesn't show 0.00 Abs. How do I fix this?

Hi @michellema58643

With the device turned on, press and release the Kinetics key (see image below) and check if the flashing lamp symbol stops and that you can then perform a test.

Unfortunately even after I press and release the Kinetics key, the flashing lamp symbol still keeps showing up.

Carefully peer into the cuvette compartment while pressing the T or R button, you may see a flash of light on the side of the compartment but if there no physical light seen then the lamp may have burnt out.

If it is determined that the lamp is the problem go to p.8 (11 of 13 pdf) in the owner manual to see how to replace the lamp.

Looking online using the part number quoted i.e. 80-3000-59 (examples) it's not cheap.

Is the device using mains or battery power only?

@jayeff The lamp does properly flash after I press the R button but the "lamp symbol" continuously flashes and does not give a 0.00 Abs reading. It just shows "---". The device uses a main power only.

@michellema58643

Can't find a service manual for the device so can only suggest that you turn it off and disconnect the power from the device and then press and hold the On/Off button for a full 30 seconds and then release it to see if this resets it.

Reconnect the power to the device, turn it on and check.

If still no good then there's a problem on the board but without a schematic etc I don't know.
