A1708/EMC 3164 — Released June 2017, this entry-level MacBook Pro retains its traditional function keys (as opposed to the OLED Touch Bar).

Keyboard damage - one key

Hi guys,

One of my laptop keys came off. I had considered buying the key caps but it appears the part needed to hold the key caps is also broken off.

What do I need in this case? Please see attached photos. I can send some more of required.

Ouch! This doesn't look good.

There's more damage than the keycap parts here! The clips are fully gone as well as the switch pieces. I don't see anyway to fix this without just replacing the full keyboard.

A good Mac tech can do this, it's not an easy repair, you might want to look at a used 2019 or newer system as the 2016 to 2018 models have had issues with their Butterfly keyboards. The 2019 have better keys.
