Known as the ''PS2'', it is a sixth-generation video game console first released by Sony in Japan in March 2000. The United States saw it later in 2000 with the SCPH-30000. Repair of this device requires only common tools, but can get tricky.

HDD port not working?

I have a PS2 that's taken a couple tumbles thanks to a rowdy kitten, and now the HDD port doesn't seem to work. I've tried using multiple HDDs and adapters, but nothing works. From what I've been told, it's either the DEV9 port or the HDD connector itself that could be the issue. How would I check to see what works? (I have a multimeter, but I've never used one for something like this.)

Hi!

This is not a easy repair, unfortunately.

First, try to clean the port completely and see if that works.

If that also fail, I would start with replacing the port or check the motherboard for damage/shorts.

Please let us know how that goes.
