My laptop does not Charge

My laptop dell e6420 does not charge, it turns on and works normally while plugged in, i change it to a new battery and the battery is recognized in the bios as normal, but the charging adapter is tagged as unknown, i have tried several chargers but it still does not charge and remains unknown in the bios. is there a way to fix this?
