Repair guides and disassembly information for Apple's 4th generation 11" iPad Pro. Released October 18, 2022.

Battery Replacement and Adhesive Strips

After four long years of use the battery on my iPad Pro is lasting less and less time. I am thinking about replacing the battery. Looking at the repair manual for the third generation which uses the same battery I have two questions. Can I use the same manual? or should I use the screen replacement manual for the appropriate parts on the actual manual, that is, generation 4 and substitute the third for what is appropriate? My main question is replacing the Adhesive strips for mine. It is not even mentioned in the third manual and they are $170 for my model. Why are these so expensive. Are they needed for battery replacement? I want to do an excellent job, but that price is way out of line compared to other models. What's up? Thanks for the help.

@rogercole

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you!

The display adhesive is necessary for this repair. To access the battery on any iPad, you have to remove the display - there's no way around it. Once you remove the display, you'll need new adhesive to reseal it properly.

These are custom-cut adhesives designed to fit your specific iPad model exactly to spec. They'll bond the glass to the frame properly and ensure a secure seal.

I'd recommend following the guide specific to your model (4th gen) rather than the 3rd gen guide. Even though they use the same battery, there are internal differences between generations that could affect the repair process.

I'm also looking into the cost of the 4th gen adhesive for you. I'll follow up when I have an update.

Thank you Kris! I knew I wanted to replace the strips, but that price just made me back up and say whoa. There not being a repair guide for the 4th gen I suppose I will have to wing it on a few steps. Thanks again for looking into this for me.

@rogercole, you're welcome!

We looked into the pricing with our ecommerce team, and there's definitely an error in the price listing - that's not the correct price.

We're working to get it fixed now. I'll reach out as soon as it's corrected.

Thank you so much for your patience and for bringing this to our attention.
