Upgrade My MacBook Pro

I was wondering if it was still worth it to upgrade my Macbook Pro? I want to do it but was wondering if it would be cost effective instead of purchasing a new macbook. I plan to use it to manage my organizations tech needs - internet site, intranet site, appsheets for our attendance app, email, and other google tools. Also if it is worth it what is the latest macOs I can load to the macbook when I upgrade the SSD an RAM?

Physically you are limited to 16GB of RAM, drives are 2.5" SATA III (6.0Gbps) but the height is limited so some HDD's won't fit but SSD's mostly do. I've installed 4 & 8TB drives. Both are not overly expensive vs a newer system.

Now the other shoe! The limit of macOS Apple supports is macOS Catalina (10.15) which can limit you on what Apps will work. But using a third party Shim service OpenCore Legacy Patcher which allows you to upgrade almost to the latest macOS!

So depending on your needs this system can still be useful. But it's not as powerful as the newer M Series systems. So you can't go crazy trying to run multiple windows or have tins of Tabs open the the CPU resources aren't there and graphics also is not a barn burner either which limits what you can do from tha GPU perspective.
