home button re-install on touch 2g

replacing home button and metal support with ribbon that lie below button (under the bezel. there is a gold "ladder type " spring below ribbon circuit. is this suppose to be in contact with ribbon circuit when i put bezel back on iPod or is it only suppose to touch that gold piece connected to mb when you press the home button

It needs to touch that gold piece of tape on the bezel.

so if i have this right-that gold (z-spring) soddered to mb is ALWAYS suppose to be touching the circuit tape on underside of bezel. if that is true, i assume when you press the home button, it then pushes down the gray "click disk" below it and that makes a "short" of some sort to send iPod to main menu? BTW: do you know if the other gold contact that is just to the left of the charging port is always suppose to be in contact with the metal bracket on underside of bezel? if so, could you "activate" the same function the home button performs by taking a piece of wire and touching both gold contacts? the reason that i ask is that my screen remains "white" (think it is frozen state) and i am trying to reboot by home button/power button technique holding sequence. if i can get it un-froze, i am just going to use "ihome/mquickdo" app instead of home button

Is your screen still white or did you get it figured out and what is "mb"?

Tell me where I can get one of those z-springs, without buying a new board? Mine just flew off, when I barely touched it. Don't mess around with those springs, they are are attached with the smallest amount of solder.
