@jumakabwe no, the S9 does not have a native "self-destruct" feature. Now, what it does suffer form is old age. Just like anything else in old age, things are starting to no longer work as well as they once did. Biggest issue will always be the battery. As it ages and as it starts to fail, it will swell up. Luckily, as it expands it will break open the back cover. That is a sure sign that you need to replace the battery immediately.

A battery exploding (venting with flame) is always a possibility but luckily a very unlikely occurrence. You can also get screen failure and in some case failing software/firmware, but nothing really self destructive.
