Has the camera been dropped at all?

Try taking some pictures (I realize that you can't see what you're taking, in the screen) and then download them to a computer and check if they're OK or not.

If the downloaded pictures are OK it looks like the LCD screen is faulty and needs to be replaced.

Here's the ifixit Canon PowerShot S410 LCD Screen Replacement guide, that shows what to do.

Search online for Canon PowerShot S410 LCD Screen to find suppliers that suit you best. (supplier examples only)

If the downloaded pictures are not OK then further testing would be required to find out what's wrong.
