SOS means that you can call emergency numbers only as your phone service provider's mobile network is not being detected by the phone. The phone is connecting to other service providers' networks to allow you to make calls to emergency services.

Have you tried using a different known working same network SIM card in the phone to see if the network is detected by the phone - signal bars showing on home screen?
