Repair and disassembly information for the ROG Ally, a handheld gaming console made by ASUS. Released in 2023 and identified by model number RC71L.

ROG Ally not charging issue

A few days ago, my ROG Ally suddenly stopped charging — the charging LED wouldn’t turn on, and it wouldn’t charge at all. I took it to the official ASUS service center, and they said the motherboard needed to be replaced. However, the repair cost was too expensive, so I went to a third-party repair shop instead. They confirmed that the problem was with the PM chip, specifically the MP2845A chipset.

The issue is that we cannot find a source for the chipset data. The repair shop says the chip needs to be replaced and the proper data must be written to it in order for it to function correctly, but we have no way to obtain the necessary data.

Is there any way to get this chipset data? Please help.

Hi @trsvissung

Found this link that has the BIOS .bin file for an RC71L model if that is what your model is and is what you need.

@trsvissung

If you click on the orange download box in the link above the file will download.

You or the repair shop will need the requisite programming equipment to connect to the chip so that the firmware can be loaded onto it.
