What is the model and year of the vehicle?

that makes it a (W213) model. There are of course multiple possibilities. From a faulty parking brake sensor or switch, to a problem with the brake pad wear sensors, right up to a bad parking brake motor. What have you already checked and what have you already tried?

Thoroughly inspect the parking brake lever, and confirm that it is able to move *all* the way down to it's un-engaged position.
