Repair guides and support for electric and gas-powered high-pressure sprayers sometimes referred to as power washers.

Brand new pressurer washer no pressure.

I bought a pressure washer 4 months ago when they went on sale at Sam's Club. It's a Troy Bilt 3400 psi 2.3 GPM gas model, model number TB3400PWXP. I finally went to use it for the first time today and it is not making pressure. It fired right up, I made sure the pump was primed first, then started it, and it makes no pressure. The stream of water coming out of the nozzle is the same if the engine is running or not. What is the most likely cause?

Update (11/12/25)

Hi @mauriceana70060

What is the colour of the spray tip being used.

Here's a list of the various tip colours that are used

Black - low pressure

Red - high pressure

Yellow - 15° fan pattern spray

Green - 25° fan pattern spray

White - 40° fan pattern spray

Doesn't matter what tip, tried yellow and red. Same pressure when machine is running as when machine is off. It's just the pressure coming out of the hose.

If there are no leaks evident and since it's new, contact the manufacturer's customer service centre in your location and ask for a warranty repair or replacement. Sounds like a problem with the pump
