Repair and service information related to Dell Inspiron 15" (inch) laptops.

Which screw bit is required to remove charging port?

I am having trouble determining which screw bit to use to remove the charging port from a Dell Inspirion 15 3593. The screw appears to be something other than a philips head, which most of the other screws, so far, are. Any suggestions on how to solve this will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

You’ll need a Torx T5 or T6 screwdriver bit to safely remove the charging port on a Dell Inspiron 15 3593.

Slightly different answer here, but will see what actually works. Thank you for your input.

@pogofan while the screw list refers to this screw as a M2x3 (which actually means it is a metric 2mm thread with a thread length (not total screw length) of 3mm), the steps for the power adapter port replacement refers to it as a M2x2 screw. According to the Inspiron 15 3593 SM it is a Phillips head screw and this would be a PH#00. Now, there is always a possibility that this screw got exchanged for something non-Phillips. In that case, take a quick picture of what it looks like and post that with your Question. That way we can see what you see and hopefully clarify this for you. Adding images to an existing question

Riiigghhtt. I was a bit baffled by the M2x3. It just said in the screw list that it was the screw type. But looking at the image it does look like a phillips. Thanks for clarifying that!

Hey Mate!

I looked up your model on Dell's support page. It appears to be a M2x3 screw. M2 refers to the form factor, and 3 refers to the length.

Here is the Screw List, and you can see the screw for the "Power-adapter port".

I hope this helps!
