Tv blinks 4 timers just after start up

Hi,

I go to turn my tv on, it starts up with the load screen, around 15/20 seconds and then cuts out and the red light blinks 4 times, and nothing else happens. Tried to reset it, same thing, left it off power for 2 days and still does it.

@ben73355 for a Sony KD-65X9500G the 4 blink code is an LED driver failure/LED voltage protection. This happens if your backlight strips have failed. It also happens when there is a panel error and it does not communicate with the rest of the TV, which is possibly a bad main board. Since your TV is a Sony and they have had issues with the backlights, that would be my first step.

There is a way of bypassing the 4 blink error but it is a bit different from main board to main board. We need to see your boards to possibly help you with a temporary bypass so you could at least check your back lights etc.

@ben73355 picture #1 is your LED driver board. Check fuses F1000 and F1001 for continuity and voltage. Careful! F1001 is high voltage at 125V. Let us know if you do not know how to check for continuity and for power. Don't want you to get zapped or shorten out your board :-)

No worries, will check that, I’m an electrician by trade so defiantly know about electric shocks.

Once check will the determin if I’m getting the correct voltage to it and just a matter of swapping the board out?

@oldturkey tested the 2 fuses but got nothing through them, a green light come in the LD panel then a red light flashed 3 times on the LD panel done this twice while the screen was trying to turn on and then all cut off and the 4 blinking lights started again

@ben73355 might just be time to replace the backlight strips and then re-evaluate.

crwdns2934271:0crwdnd2934271:0crwdne2934271:0

How do you replace the strips? Do you need to pull the whole tv apart? Is it worth going to all that trouble? But if the TV starts up show a picture then cuts out thought it would be more the LD panel failing?

@ben73355 "But if the TV starts up show a picture then cuts out thought it would be more the LD panel failing?" is a definite, maybe. Test it out. Next time your the picture cuts out, use a flashlight and shine the beam at an angle against the screen (best done in a darkened room). See if you can make out your previous program (or even just shadows, shapes etc.) If you do, then it is your backlight that has failed. If you do not see anything, it is possibly your LCD panel but that would not commonly give you a 4 blink code error.

To replace the backlight you would need to disassemble your panel. Something like this Also not your exact model, same principle.
