Why is the speed too low at setting 10

Block Image

I have an older Kitchenaid Artisan tilt head mixer and even after speed adjustment and replacement of top plastic gear assembly, food grade grease and phase control board (original spare part) the speed won’t go up after position 8. Even when properly adjusted (60 rpm at 1, 180 rpm at 6), the speed difference between position 6 and 8 is minimal and between 8 and 10 is absent.

This speed problem was already there when I was given the mixer, but I was hoping the replacements and adjustments would fix the speed problem. Please advise.

@marceldenh40662 any chance you have some ort of model label on your mixer? That would make things a bit easier since we then would all be in the same book :-) If not, take some pictures and let's see what you got there Adding images to an existing question

Thank you. Here is a photo of the label.

@marceldenh40662 perfect. Thank you. Let's see if we can determine the wiring for the speed selector and why the higher RPM's do not engage.

Thank you. I believe the wiring is OK. I have noticed something else, however, that likely is significant: if I leave the mixer running for a little while, let’s say 5 to 10-15 minutes, the speed at position 10 first starts to intermittently pick up. Humming sound of mixer goes up and down in pitch. After 10-15 minutes, the speed goes up and remains high. I can then go through all the speed settings and they change at every position, from 1 to 2 and through 4, 6, 8 and 10. I am not sure if the speed at 10 is as high as it should be, but at 1 and 6 they are correct and with every position change the speed and humming pitch change. The mixer is not getting extremely hot or smelly, nor is it loosing separated grease/oil. After switching it off and waiting a bit, the top speed problem will return. The only other thing except the top speed being different from our own store-bought Kitchenaid Artisan is that the brushes spark visibly on both sides. I did check the brushes, but their length appears to be fine.
