Released in North America in November 2006, the Wii was Nintendo's first home console to directly support Internet connectivity, supporting both online games and digital distribution of games and media applications through the Wii Shop Channel.

Is my Wii disc drive compatible

Is the Wii disc drive part number IF207-001-1 compatible with the first generation Wii (RVL-001). I received this part when I ordered a replacement. However, the part that is listed on the website is IF207-001-4.

Hi Michael!

All Wii disc drives are compatible with each other.

Only the parts withing the disk drive are different (like the lasers, they use different laser). But whenever you are going to replace the whole drive, you can use all of them. You also do not have to transfer the PCB. For the Wii it's all fine and you can just swap it.

The only thing is, that the new (RVL-101) disc drive won't read gamecube games. Only the old (RVL-001) drive does.

Please let me know if you have any questions, and please let us know how it goes!
