Melitta was the german company that invented the coffee filter. Today there is a wide range of coffee makers of all kind for catering and household, accessories and coffee.

Continuously pumps water into drip tray

I have a Melitta Latte Select beans to cup coffee machine, only a few years old. It has stopped working properly. When I turn it on, it just starts pumping water continuously from the water tank into the drip tray, until either the tank is empty or the tray overflows causing a flood. Does anyone recognise this fault or can suggest a fix? It has been suggested that the fault may be to do with the ceramic valve. Does anyone know how to get to the ceramic valve on this machine, or know where I can find a diagram showing what's where?

Thank you - Rowan

The issue you’re describing with your Melitta Latte Select continuously pumping water into the drip tray is a common sign of a faulty ceramic valve or a stuck solenoid (controls the flow of liquids or gases) that’s redirecting water incorrectly. This valve controls water flow between the brewing unit, steam wand, and drip tray, and if it’s jammed or misaligned, the machine will keep dumping water. Unfortunately, accessing it requires removing the side panels and internal covers, as the valve is located deep near the pump assembly. Since there are no official repair diagrams publicly available from Melitta, it’s best to contact Melitta support or a certified repair center for service, rather than disassembling it yourself, to avoid damaging the machine.

I'm afraid I have ignored your advice and am trying to dismantle the machine myself. The repairers seem to have a fixed price repair service which is quite expensive, and it rankles to pay a lot of money if the cure is to change a relatively cheap part. I will let you know how it goes!
