Pioneer SPH-DA120 AppRadio 4 Fan replacement

Had an issue where my Pioneer SPH-DA120 AppRadio 4 booted up to a software error. I read some forums and was told that the OS is on a SD card and to download the procided image and flash it to a new SD card and it should fix the problem.

I did that and it did work until I turned my heat on and then it goes to error again. If I let my car cool down it starts working again.

When I replaced the SD card and was testing before putting the deck back in the dash I noticed that the fan wasn't working.

I am thinking now the fan died and the system is overheating and shutting off. Does anyone have a tutorial on how to replace the Fan and what I should buy as a replacement fan.

I know this stereo is old and I should just buy a new one but money is tight and I plan to buy a new car in a year so don't want to pay for a new stereo yet and wanted to fix the one I currently have.

@chewie316 is it possible that there is a Typo. Is it possible that this is a SPA-DA120 instead of a SPA-DH120? This "but money is tight" is the right reason for self repair. Use stuff as long as you can.

Anyhow, there is not much information available with regards to replacing the fan on the SPA-DA120. What we do have is the service manual for the Pioneer SPH DA100. It is a bit older but essentially it should be the same case. See if you can use that to get to the heatsink and fan.

Once there, take some well focused pictures of everything you see and post those with your question. That will let us see what you see and hopefully we can assist you in finding a new/usable fan. Adding images to an existing question
