Have it serviced. It could be a safety device cutting it off. Do you have a carbon monoxide detector?

It sounds like the flame detector isn't working, so it thinks it hasn't ignited. Shuts off the gas for safety.

Sometimes the flame detector is a simple wire electrode which the flames impinge onto, and it gets sooted-up. If you can find it try cleaning it with some scouring pad.
