Hi @marillynrogers
Best that I can find is that your dryer maybe is a ADE3SRGS173TW01 as I couldn't find anything on the number that you posted.
If it is, then there are two thermostats located in the dryer.
A temperature thermostat is used to regulate the temperature so that the heater in the dryer is turned on and off as required so as to maintain the selected drying temperature during the cycle.
The other is known as a hi-limit thermostat and it is used as a safety device to prevent a fire from occurring in the event that either the temperature thermostat fails to function as designed or if for some other reason the heater is not turned off and the temperature continues to rise unchecked.
It operates to disconnect the power to the dryer, thereby turning it off. After it has operated, the dryer will not work at all as the hi-limit thermostat will have to be replaced as it cannot be repaired. Also if this did happen, the reason why it operated in the first place would also have to be found as well.
No doubt the vent cover (is this what you mean?) got a bit too hot at the two dark spots and it discoloured
Did the dryer turn itself off or did you notice the problem of the jammed pillow and turn it off?
If the dryer can still be turned on, you could try running a short drying cycle with maybe only an old damp rag loaded in the dryer and check if the dryer behaves normally. Do not leave it unsupervised when it is doing this just to be sure. If everything appears to be OK then it should be OK to use.
