Replacement of hard drive by SD and upgrade of battery

What are the best parts for this & what tools are needed? I am looking to go to 512GB storage (would 1TB present operating system or other problems?) and 3000 mah battery, but I hear the battery might be a little too deep for the case.

@terryclark32973 are you referring to an iPod Classic 7Gen? If so, let us know what 3000mAh battery you have. I would use nothing other than a 385879 due to the size restriction. Even that battery is snug, but it will work. Remember that eventually you will overwhelm the RAM on your iPod by trying to access more than 512GB (considered the safe limit) of storage. After all, your motherboard will still need to read all the files, index it etc. Yes, you can go bigger but it may become unstable when trying to access your audio. I 've used iFlash as well as Tarkan boards before and both worked well.

As for tools, you will need the same tools as you do for the HDD removal iPod Classic Hard Drive Replacement Be aware, this series is a bear to open ;-) It does require a lot of patience and just the right amount of brute force to open it up.

Do a search:

"replacement SSD and battery for IPOD 7th gen?"

This will return results ranging from a set that will fit your device "as is" with lower capacity batteries, as well as kits that contain a replacement back cover that allows space for a higher capacity battery, if you are willing to do that, (I've done that with PPCs, Phones and so on several times. think about whether the added thickness (and weight) of the device will bother you, if not, and you want that extra operating time then go for it. If possible read the customer reviews before deciding which one to go with, quality varies. Also, it looks like your device can accept up to a 2 TB SSD, you can also try searching for only the battery kits and SSD individually to potentially see more options.

Good Luck!
