Corrosion can behave like a fungus and it can potentially spread depending on the climate and conditions etc..... Cleaning it up with some 90%+ alcohol is a good idea but it can come with some risk as the corroded areas / parts will likely be quite fragile or at least have a more fragile connection, so extra care is necessary. Have a backup plan in case the laptop didn't work after the cleanup, but at least you will know which areas are affected and may require attention ie: fresh solder or in the worst case the need for some replacement components. Ii will be interesting to see what others may suggest on this, salt and sugar are a motherboards worst wish. Good luck!

Salt even in a weak solution when it dries absorbs moisture in the air reactivating, and depending upon what it was spilled on and with can be very tricky to clean up initially and then overtime, we'll eat away the exposed metal surfaces. Sugars and starches allow fungus and mold to grow, and it too will pull moisture out of the air to help feed itself, slowly eating away what it can.
