Laptop battery can get charged or sustain but not boot.

I have a mid/high gaming laptop from tulpar/monster. I can use it/game when it is plugged. It seems to get charged. Once it has booted I can unplug it and it works for about 3-4 hours. But If I shut-down and reboot while unplugged, it powers off about 5-10 seconds after choosing the OS in grub. I have dropped my 3 months old laptop about 1.5 years ago. I'm not sure if that was the reason but visual internal inspection during thermal paste change seemed ok. Only the aluminium hull corner was slightly deformed but not enough to damage anything internal. Any guesses?

Hi @anilkarabu23531

What is the model number of the laptop?

If Win10 or Win 11 is also installed, create a battery report to check the condition of the battery.

Especially note if there's a big difference between the Design Capacity value and the Full Charge Capacity values

I have created the battery report and there are very interesting details indeed!

2025-11-16 04:12:53 Suspended AC 100 % 42.396 mWh

2025-11-17 07:28:29 Active Battery 92 % 39.024 mWh

2025-11-17 07:28:29 Suspended 92 % 39.024 mWh <- It shut down here during boot.

2025-11-17 07:32:14 Active AC 7 % 231 mWh

2025-11-17 07:37:51 Report generated AC 21 % 724 mWh

Here is the full charge capacity vs design capacity on top:

FULL CHARGE CAPACITY: 3.403 mWh

DESIGN CAPACITY: 52.514 mWh

I well bring it to a repair center tomorrow. I hope it has to do with the battery and not with the battery circuit.

Sounds like a battery or power delivery issue. Even if it charges and runs unplugged, voltage drops during startup may cause shutdowns. Try resetting BIOS, updating firmware, and checking battery health. If possible, test with another battery or adapter. If the problem persists, the motherboard power circuit might need inspection.
