Hi @davidarnol

Check that there's no slot underneath the one where the ram is inserted now.

Sometimes there can be two ram slots with the modules mounted on top of one another.

Ensure that the battery is disconnected from the motherboard before removing/replacing the ram

I checked but there is nothing underneath, could it be on the other side of the motherboard?

All apps, task manager, powershell etc say there is a second slot

@davidarnol

Looked at images of the back of the motherboard online and there's no obvious ram slots shown.

What is the model number of the motherboard (printed on the board) as it seems there's different variants of the model?

crwdns2934271:0crwdnd2934271:0crwdne2934271:0

Hi Jayeff, The motherboard is identified as a Dynabook inc. DBIIP303 V2.0. When using CPU-Z and various other similar products, I will take the back off and check for other ID numbers.

Thank you for your help so far, it is very much appreciated.

@davidarnol

According to the maintenance manual for the model you posted there's only 1 ram slot which supports a maximum of 16GB DDR4 2666MHz sodimm ram - see p.135 of 162 (pdf) or page 4-13 for how to remove the ram

Thanks again, that is clear. I was just wondering why all the 3rd party apps, upgrade sites and the laptops own bios, Powershell and task manager info etc showed 2 slots with one empty. Thank you for your time, you are very helpful
