@olw3szj4hotxgny,

The power button flashes various codes to indicate specific hardware issues.

Thusly:

Flash Code Meaning Actions to try

1 flash Memory issue Reseat or replace the RAM.

2 flashes Motherboard issue Check for motherboard damage or loose connections.

3 flashes Display issue Inspect the display and connections.

4 flashes Power supply issue Test the power supply unit.

5 flashes CPU issue Reseat the CPU or check for overheating.

6 flashes BIOS corruption Try resetting the BIOS or updating it.

7 flashes Battery issue Replace the battery or check battery connections.

8 flashes System board issue Consult a technician for system board issues.

You said "don't turn on without the charger" If it DOES work with the charger plugged in I'd be willing to bet you are seeing 7 flashes because this almost surely means your battery is dead and needs to be replaced, if it is say 5 or more years old, this is very likely... batteries wear out depending on how they are used and charged it can even be less time than that.

There are other things to consider, and you can run the diagnostics as well (assuming that YES, it works while plugged in)

The way to do that is to:

1. Turn off the laptop (completely, not standby).

2. Turn the laptop back on and immediately press the F2 or F12 keys repeatedly until the boot menu appears.

3. Select "Diagnostics" and run a full hardware scan to identify possible problems.

4. Follow any on-screen prompts to address detected problems.

if not and for anyone looking at this answer whose chief problem is addressing the flashing power button a good guide to follow is HERE.

It goes over soft and hard resets, other possible causes and fixes. But I'm pretty sure, IF it works with the charger) that the problem here is needing a new battery. if not check that link for more possible solutions...

Good Luck
