The Golf Mk5 was introduced in Europe in the autumn of 2003, reaching the UK market in early 2004. In North America, Volkswagen brought back the Rabbit nameplate when it introduced the vehicle in 2006.

How to lower emmisions?

I have changed my oil ( not filter ) and put a cleaner in a couple of days before the test.

I plan to inflate all my tyres, get a different fuel cleaner ( Dipetane ), change my oil filter & air filter. What else can I do? I'm new to doing stuff myself.

@mary58088 did your Golf fail the emissions test? Make sure that your exhaust does not have any leaks, inspect the EVAP system (like broken charcoal canister etc.), check for any vacuum leaks. Changing your spark plugs is a must. You have not told us if your Check Engine light is on. It will also help if you can tell us the specific year and engine size for your Golf.

Hi, I failed my NCT test in Ireland due to high emissions that’s all, nothing on my dashboard. Thanks for the tips, it’s a 2007 Engine: 1390cc.75hp.
