Browser Lagging With Multiple Tabs Open

Hello!

When I run my system, I typically have 2 windows open in google chrome and about 5-7 tabs per window. I find that when other operations are active (excel, windows, etc.) everything will lag. I also notice the computer runs kind of hot. Fan runs a ton.

Hi @garrettc25324

What is the model number of the laptop as shown on the product information label on the bottom of the laptop?

How much ram (memory) is installed in the laptop?

8 GB of ram, and 7.39 used. Model number is 15m-ee0015dx (I think)

Hi @garrettc25324

Given the number of windows/tabs and other programs running and the amount of ram shown being utilized, most probably there's isn't enough spare ram available hence the lag.

Upgrading the ram to 16GB should alleviate the lag and the heating problem, as the CPU then won't have to do as much work causing the CPU to heat up and also causing the HDD to perform more operations as well.

At the moment there's a page file on the HDD being used as virtual ram as there isn't enough physical ram installed for what you have running, so data has to be constantly transferred to the HDD page file, temporarily stored there and the accessed again when needed, rather than being temporarily stored in ram. Data transfer between CPU and ram is a lot faster than between CPU and HDD

Here's the maintenance and service guide for the laptop series. Go to p.35 (43 of 90 pdf) in the manual, to view the procedure to remove/replace the memory modules.

Best that I can find out is that your laptop model (couldn't find info re a 15m-ee0015dx, only info for a 15m-ee0013dx but should be the same for ram anyway) has 2 x 4GB DDR4-3200 sodimm ram modules installed i.e. 8GB so search online for 2 x 8GB DDR4-3200 sodimm ram to find suppliers that suit you best.
