Error SU-101377-5 bucle safe mode

Hi, I have the error SU-101337-5 safe mode loop. I tried updating and restoring, but nothing. I noticed that the front USB C doesn't work, but the USB A does. Could this be the error? How can I fix it? Thanks.

Hi there!

Yes, that error is pointing to the USB-C controller.

Replacing the USB-C PD controller chip (S2MMC01X) will most likely fix the issue.

The only downside is, that soldering is required to fix this.. it’s not a easy job unfortunately…

if you want to proceed, please let me know. Then I can share some guides.

Thx koppie007

Where is the S2MMC01X located on the board? I've searched but can't find it. And where can I buy the replacement part?

Hi! Please check step 8 here: PlayStation 5 Teardown

It's the chip next to the USB. You can read the info here: https://www.reddit.com/r/PS5HelpSupport/... < There are also pictures posted there about the IC.

The S2MMC01X is the part number. You can also use the RT7802GQW as replacement part. (Sorry I should have put this in my answer).

I advise to check: https://www.mouser.com/

Please let me know if you have any more questions!

Many thanks koppie007 for the help. I managed to find the IC on the motherboard, but it's strange since it's MMC01X0A, not S2MMC01X. Could it be a variant? Should the RT7802GQW IC work the same, right? Or should I look for a donor board?

crwdns2934271:0crwdnd2934271:0crwdne2934271:0

My pleasure! Yes I think it’s the MMC01X0A. The S2MMC01X is just the part number.

Yes the RT7802GQW should work as people tested it and found out that it was working. I do not have experience with this as I did not replaced that IC yet. If you want to be like 100% safe, it’s always a good idea to get the same IC from another (donor) motherboard. As long as the IC is OK on that board!
