My receiver automatically shut off.
My receiver turns on, but in under a minute, it automatically shuts off. What would cause this, and what is the solution to fix it?

Hi @jonverbeck
A .5 seconds error code is an ASO/DC protection code that indicates a problem either with the speakers, either shorted wiring, wrong impedance speakers connected etc or a problem with an amplifier associated with the audio output to the speakers i.e. excess current flow detected.
Here's the service manual that may help.

Originally, I did have the proper speakers attached, and this error occurred. I then tried it with nothing attached, and it still gives the same error. the receiver only stays on for approximately 4-5 seconds.
If there is a short somewhere, where might it be and/or how can I identify it and fix it?
See the No Power troubleshooting flowchart on p.23
If the answer to "Is there a short circuit between the speaker terminals and the ground?" is NO check for component damage around both the audio amps on the amp board - see p.155 for the schematic

Hi @jonverbeck
When the receiver shuts off, is the Standby LED flashing quickly i.e. on/off every 0.5 seconds or more slowly i.e. on/off every 2 seconds?

The standby light flashes about every .5 seconds after the receiver automatically shuts down.
