It is most likely dirty, but it may also be worn out if it's an old machine... if it's worn out you may need to replace the key or even the entire keyboard which is not too difficult. But first try cleaning it. I like to blow air or even use a vacuum to try to get dirt and grime out while 'working' the sticky key. That may cure the problem but you might need to actually remove the cap and do a more thorough job of cleaning it. WARNING! Be careful, you can easily break the tiny tabs that hold the key caps to the hinges... (demonstrated in the video below) A pretty good video on how to do this is here:

Don't rush, don't use excess force, once you break the tabs you'll need a new key,,, so DON'T Break them! (Experience speaking here... easy to screw it up!)

Good Luck.

Oh, BTW if you try a vacuum, don't get too close with a regular household one, you can suck the caps off that way, cover the thing with your fingers between the keys and the hose or try the brush attachment if available.

Most probable thing -

If the plastic hinge looks broken, the key won’t spring back.

You’ll need a replacement keycap/retainer set (it can be bought online for your laptop model).
