Repair guides, user manuals and services for the Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 laptop. The Zephyrus G14 is a 14-inch Ryzen-powered gaming laptop, first released in mid-2020.

Power button falling in, also no contact due to that.

Hello to everyone, so I have a GA401 that the previous owner demolished cosmetically, and keyboard and screen were not working, but the motherboard was intact. So I've bought the case and keyboard and put it together but I have an issue as it seems that I am missing a small part or metal plate or some kind of metal spring. The power button just falls in and doesn't retract back, also the button doesn't "click" as it all just falls in on press. I've disassembled it again and I can click it from behind, so the button itself seems perfectly fine, it is just that it isn't staying in place. I predict I am missing a small metal plate that goes below the button and the rubber that holds the button, but it is impossible to find this info with Asus, really bad company for that. Does anyone have the same laptop or fixed these and knows what am I missing?

EDIT: You are right, I found that part number last week and wanted to buy it, but on the images it looks exactly the same as the one I have so I figured I'd waste time and money. I already bought the button rubber (SKU:PWRKEYRUBBERGA401) which I hoped would be the whole thing I need, but no luck, I just got the same piece I already have. The button itself works if I leave it out of the device and press it. I am 99% sure I am missing some plate (or rubber) that is screwed into these 2 holes to provide resistance so you can push it and that way the button works + doesn't fall in.

EDIT2: I found this image online, this might be the part I am missing, this rubber piece with a tiny hole

@lyqt9zgxiows94k it's a bit hard to visualize what you have going on there. It sounds like you are having an issue with the button board (Asus part number is FPC.5062A-B) To repair the individual switch we may have trouble finding parts but hopefully we can figure out how to make the contact. Post some well focused pictures of what you got going on there. that way we can see what you see and hopefully we can figure it out. Adding images to an existing question

Order the Power Button Board / Assembly for GA401 from Asus parts suppliers (or eBay). That way you’ll get the full stack including the missing plate.

Yes, however it is not available. 0 listings on ebay that look like they'd solve my problem, and I've already went through the asus parts seller and there isn't one. What I found is exactly the same thing I have, the button without that plate which is useless to me.

But I did find a guy selling a G14 for parts and he seems to have this. https://www.ebay.com/itm/306493396348?_t...
