FX503V battery replacement is hard to find

Hi, I'm trying to replace the battery (B41N1711) on my old laptop but am afraid of scams.

There's currently only where I can see a few no name sellers for a replacement battery for my model, no reputable reseller that I know of. Since I rarely go shop for batteries, could someone here help me find a good place to search for a replacement? Details I found on the og battery was 4 cell and either 65 or 64wh. https://www.a-accessories.com/laptop/bat...|l

Hi @sara51888

Recommendations are usually frowned upon in ifixit as this leads to an increase in spam etc on the site.

Also being a world wide forum any recommendations may not be relevant to your location.

Best option is to search for the battery model number that you posted and then start checking seller's websites for such things as if it is an OEM battery, what warranty or guarantee they give on a battery, their returns policy e.g. good, non-existent etc and then if you have found a couple of likely sellers, search online for (insert seller's name) reviews to hopefully find reviews about them.

Then trust your instincts as to who to choose.

I'm okay keeping it generic (i.e no names or sites mentioned). My issue stems from my lack of knowledge on batteries besides many mentions of "be careful there's many scams" and maybe you have an idea what else to watch out for besides reviews. There's unfortunately no seller I've found so far passing the test of having good reviews, return policy, and have been around for long enough. Are there any details as for the battery itself I should watch out for?

@sara51888

Ensure that it matches the battery model number, the battery voltage and the Wh value (Watt hours) what is on the original battery.

If the seller provides an image make sure that it matches what your battery looks like.

Do not buy from places such as Ebay, Amazon, AliExpress etc if possible.

You could also try contacting local electronics parts stores and laptop repair services as ask them where they get their batteries from.

As an example only and not an endorsement, as I've never dealt with them, here's a supplier that offers a 3 month warranty, (the supplier you posted offers 12 months) they have a 4.8/5 star rating and have been around for a long time but their shipping details mightn't include your location or if it does it might add a lot to the cost.

Thank you @jayeff, I'll keep that in mind. Local repair/stores might not be the worst in case there's one just laying around
