TCL 55S41R has issues with display
History: My TCL 55S421R had an issue with the display. The picture stopped showing up, but the sound was still On. I could move around with the remote but couldn't see anything. The backlights were not an issue.
It turns out that there is a short on the LCD driver board on the right side of the screen. Figured this out by unplugging the ribbon cable for the right side, and the left side screen showed up on the display without any issue. When I switched over to the right and unplugged the left side ribbon, the whole screen was off.
I came across a YouTube video that helped troubleshoot a part of this issue. I was able to get the full display to work by covering a few pins on the right side ribbon cable with a tape. Now the display works; however, the right half seems to flicker when I look closely and pay attention (not so evident at first). The right side also looks a bit dull or washed out compared to the left side (See the images below)
(Found a YouTube video that shows this behavior https://youtu.be/zGAVbMQrSek?si=C-u1OqcJ...).

Notice the thumbnail for the "Rainbow colors song".

I scrolled to the right, and now notice the color difference for the thumbnail "Rainbow colors song". Similarly, notice the thumbnail with "what color is it"

Now notice the thumbnail with "what color is it"
Has anyone figured out a permanent fix for this, or even better, narrowed down the exact pin to mask with the tape that fixes this issue?
@oldturkey03 Have you come across this issue before?

@dobbyisfree the flickering is common since you are basically decreasing the lines that are being scanned whenever you block the signal. Since there are no schematics it will be a lot of trial and error. Commonly the tape-off is to block the data from the clock lines. Those should be marked as CKV or CKV-B but that may very from manufacturer to manufacturer. you could check the driver boards and see if you can identify which pins carry that signal. Remember, you will only need to tape -off the lines with the thin traces sine those are data lines. The thicker ones are power lines.
I have not had any issue with color change. Since your color change seems to be consistent with the side you're blocking the contact you may have to continue with the trial and error chase.

@oldturkey03 Got it, thanks. After a couple of tries, when I got a good image, I said, That's enough.
I will have to experiment with taping off different lines. Will have to open up the TV again and try it out. I will update you when I get a chance.

@dobbyisfree Yeah it can take multiple attempts to get the right lines. I usually start of by taping of 4 then narrow it down and try different data lines as well. Just stick with one side. Look like yours is the left (right when you look at it) buffer board that has the issues.
