Repair information and disassembly guides for LG front-load washing machines.

LG f-c14105v2w front loading washer dryer keeps powering off

Hi guys,

Background:

https://www.lg.com/hk_en/laundry/combo-w...

My washer dryer lives on my covered balcony and is covered by a plastic sheet for some protection. This I guess was not enough during a recent typhoon in my area, and I suspect it got wetter than it could tolerate.

What still works:

  • The machine is still switching on when I turn the mains power on.
  • The display comes on as expected.
  • WiFi connectivity and the LG ThinQ app can see it successfully.
  • I can run a diagnostic report in the ThinQ app and it says it’s 100% normal.

What is wrong:

  • The chime it normally plays has a very elongated final note
  • The physical and touch sensitive buttons are not responding
  • The knob is not responding
  • After running the diagnostic report in the app, the machine sounded like it was stuck in some sort of loop as the chimes it was playing were continuous and quite erratic
  • No wash or dry cycles can be initiated

Video showing original symptoms:

What I’ve tried so far:

  1. Left the machine unplugged for several very dry days. No difference.
  2. Sourced a replacement knob controller unit (original EBR331191, replacement EBR339279) and display board unit (both EBR356611) and replaced. Machine power button works as expected, but the machine powers off if I start to twist the knob or press other buttons.

Thank you so much in advanced!

Looks like you had to replace the main controller unit, not knob controller or LCD

Thanks for the response Pikudo. Would you have any advice as to where physically in the machine I would find the main controller unit, and roughly what it would look like? If it helps, I’ve edited my original post to include videos and a photo of the top view of the inside of the machine. I’m happy to try to locate it so I can find the exact part number to try and source a replacement for. Thanks again!

@benjaminwo55749 For that things (beeps, programs etc) there's a CPU responsive. Usually it's the biggest square IC on the module. On washer modules it's covered under compound gel, also to access it you have to remove plastic from the back side of the module. But if your module is "slightly damaged", there's a high chance that everything visually will be fine. But damaged CPU can produce anomally work and have to be changed with whole CPU board module.

If you're asking for a physical CPU module appearance, It can be located on bottom of the washer (near to the ground) or somewhere near the LCD.
