CMOS Invalid Error Message

I bought a new battery (Not CMOS) for my old laptop and when I turned it on, it gave a CMOS error and I am wondering how do I replace it with this laptop because there seems to be no guide on how to do it.

Does it continue to display this error? It may be expected if you replaced the battery. In some models those are used for CMOS as well because that con sumes such a small amount of power. But if you remove the battery it resets the CMOS so you will get an error the first time you boot back up again.

If you continue to get this error, then that's another story, but I have had this happen to me with many HP computers specifically.

No, it didn't display the message when I turned it on today so I guess it was a one time thing but that scared me.

I did have to reset the time and date but it didn't pop up again.
