The most popular option to light large areas of buildings. They come in a variety of connection types and power ratings.

My CFL bulb has turned pink. What does this mean?

I have a Sylvania CF23EL/SPIRAL/827 2700K 1600 Lumens 23W light bulb that turned pink in the bathroom light for some reason, not sure if this is a concern or not but it’s also very dim. Never had this happen in a CFL, what does this mean? Is it dangerous?

Hi @dan5057

No it is not dangerous.

It means that the light is nearing the end of its life and needs to be replaced.

The Mercury vapor in the tube is deteriorating. It and Argon are used to produce the light inside the tube. The light is pink because Argon is now the more predominant gas.

There are articles online that explain how to replace a fluorescent tube with a similar fitting LED tube as it may be difficult to source a replacement fluorescent tube nowadays
