Water Dispenser not working, Ice maker OK

Curious for any thoughts on this issue with my 2021 Whirlpool French Door Refrigerator with a water dispenser on front. Model WRX735SDHZ04.

The water dispenser suddenly stopped working for me yesterday. I can still depress the paddle, the ounces counter still counts up with each press, but I no longer hear a mechanism (a soft electronic buzz/motor sound) moving and no water actually dispenses out now.

The ice maker is fine. It's still producing ice no problem.

This problem persists whether the water filter is in or I take it out.

I'm thinking a problem with a water valve (which one?) or a clogged tube. Also, I should possibly mention that this problem happened as I was attempting to clean the water line using white vinegar after the water dispenser was previously working, but with a noticeably slower flow than when new.

Hi @charles45382

What is the model number of the refrigerator?

Of course, added that to the post. Thanks.

Hi @charles45382

Can't find the tech sheet (Whirlpool part # W10873263) so as to make it easy to check by running the diagnostic tests so you may have to start by eliminating possibilities.

  • Faulty water inlet valve:

Disconnect the power to the refrigerator and then use an Ohmmeter to check for continuity through the valve. I don't know which one it is so test both. If they're OK they'll both test the same resistance value. If one valve tests faulty then it will have to be replaced. Not that it makes much difference because the valves come as a module of two valves and not individually replaceable valves (part # W11043013) so both will be replaced anyway.

If the valves both test OK with an Ohmmeter, reconnect the power to the refrigerator and use a voltmeter to check that there's 120V AC on a valve when the dispenser paddle is operated, proving that the paddle switch and control board circuits are both OK

  • Faulty water dispenser spigot (nozzle) (part # W11227371):

Here's a link that has a video that shows how to replace it so that is can be checked.

If you find the problem and it's a faulty part that needs replacing, search online for the part number only to find suppliers that suit you best.

The part numbers shown above are the ones for those components in your refrigerator model.
