Steps to replace the clutch cable on a Hyundai Grand i10:

1. Preparation

Park on level ground, handbrake on.

Disconnect the negative battery terminal.

Get the correct replacement clutch cable for your model.

2. Locate the cable

Inside: the clutch pedal linkage.

Engine bay: cable runs through the firewall to the clutch release arm on the gearbox.

3. Remove old cable

Inside cabin: unhook the cable end from the clutch pedal pin (may need pliers or a screwdriver to free the retaining clip).

Engine bay: loosen the locknuts and adjuster on the gearbox side.

Pull the cable through the firewall into the engine bay.

4. Install new cable

Feed the new cable through the firewall from engine bay into cabin.

Attach the cable end to the clutch pedal. Ensure the retaining clip locks it in place.

Route the cable the same way as the old one (avoid sharp bends).

Attach the gearbox end to the clutch release lever. Tighten locknuts and adjuster.

5. Adjust free play

Pedal free play should be about 10–20 mm (check manual for exact spec).

Adjust at the gearbox end by turning the adjuster nut.

6. Final check

Press pedal several times, ensure smooth operation.

Start the engine, test clutch engagement and gear shifting.

Re-check adjustment after short drive.
