@loganharri66982 the most likely issue here is based on "has been sitting in a drawer for ~5 years" which will have depleted the battery below its charging threshold. No matter how long you keep the charger on, the battery will no longer accept a charge. At this time the best thing to do would be to replace the battery.
Since iFixit does not yet have a specific guide for this, use something like this video to work on your phone. Batteries are still available at online stores.
While you work on your phone, take lots of pictures. Once you are done with it, take those pictures and create a guide for iFixit.
