Hi @denisedalman,
How did you manage to unlock the controls?
Here's the mini manual for the model series that may help.
Enter the service diagnostics as described and check if any error codes 07 00 → 07 22 are being displayed.
If there are there's a list showing what the error code means.
If there are no errors shown then perform tests 00 17 → 00 23 to confirm that all the boards are communicating correctly.
If all is OK you may have to start checking individual tests relating to switches and doors.
If you find the problem and it's a faulty part that needs replacing there are 8 models beginning with PFD28KSL i.e. PFD28KSLBSS, PFD28KSLCSS, PFD28KSLDSS .... PFD28KSLISS.
Here's a link that will help you to select the exact model to find the correct part. Once you find the part you need in the parts list, note the manufacturer's part number that is shown with it and then search online for the part number only, to find suppliers that suit you best.
If you search on YouTube for (insert wanted part number) replacement sometimes if you're lucky you'll find videos that show how to replace the part.

Hi @denisedalman
What is the model number of the refrigerator?
Have you tried operating the controls a few times in case one is stuck in the operated position?

Hi jayeff,
The model number is PFD28KSLSS. Yes I have tried the controls and it just kept making that sound and switching between locked and unlocked. Late last night it stopped and the controls are locked. I unlocked it yet again and so far it isn't doing it anymore. However, this is like the third time it has done this in the past year or so. It's very annoying and would like to know how to stop it if it starts doing it again.
