Hi @christiely35143

What year is the vehicle?

With a cold engine, remove the radiator cap and start the engine.

After a while as the engine heats up the thermostat should open and you should see the coolant start to swirl in the neck of the radiator.

If it does this proves that the thermostat is open and also that the water pump is working OK. Quickly turn off the engine so as to stop the coolant flowing out of as it expands due to being heated.

If it doesn't, either there's a blockage in the cooling system, the pump is faulty or it's a faulty replacement thermostat

Be safety aware when you do this as the engine is running! Before you do this, park the car in a safe spot (allow the engine to cool down if it is hot) and ensure that the transmission is in Park (AT) or Neutral (MT) and that the handbrake is firmly applied.
