AOC CQ32G1 Repair attempt #2
Hi,
I've been trying to repair my AOC CQ32G1 monitor and ran into trouble. But I'll start from the beginning.
Then the display broke it refused to turn on the display properly. I couldn't get anything to display regardless of port being used. I couldn't even get it to open the OSD, none of it. Not even the simple input selection. I decided that I didn't want to spend a lot of effort on it so I decided that I'd buy a new power board and a new mainboard on aliexpress and replace it. I did that successfully and when laying flat on my table I got my laptop to render on it through the HDMI. So I assembled it fully and brought it to my desktop for it to show the exact same symptoms. The new mainboard OSD (some Chinese stripped down version) didn't show up. After that I tried every HDMI/DP cable I could find in every combination of laptop/desktop I could think of and I could only get it to render once using HDMI, low refreshrate (75hz, not 59hz surprisingly). But it worked for such a short time it's hard for me to determine, I couldn't get that setup to work more than once. Once I switched from mirrored display to extended it just failed on me. The backlight has never failed me. It's never a black screen it's always just the LCD side of things that don't work.
I have pictures from it disassembled but mainly the old boards and screw positions. I can disassemble it for new pictures but I'd rather not touch it too much as the frame is losing integrity. All the internal cables seemed fine to me when I inspected them. I'm a little concerned about two of the the connectors. They were annoyingly firm even after I pushed the tabs in correctly.
So my question is about what's the likely culprit. Is it one of the internal cables that are broken? Is the LCD busted in some way that I don't recognize? I'd also be a huge help to get an idea of what diagnostic steps would be wise to do if I choose to open it again. I could probably measure continuity on the cables if I were to open it again. Since I replaced both boards the only original parts is the backlight+lcd, cables and the presumed circuitboard for the pushbuttons. Concerning the buttons on the display it's one of the more suspect areas because it's improperly mounted so it's bulging
please endure the dirt I'm not cleaning this broken monitor.
But it's been like that since I bought it five years ago and I rarely touch it. I didn't take a good look at it when it was disassembled.
