Car randomly turns off while driving

Once every month or few weeks when driving on the highway, my 1991 civic hatchback turns off while driving on the highway. I have to pop the clutch and it immediately starts back up. It's a bit scary because it doesn't happen often and catches me by surprise when it happens. Does anyone know what could cause this? My 91 civic hatchback is a regular baseline model.

I know this sounds dumb but do you have a gas filter under the hood? I had a similar problem and it was the gas filter which clogged until I shook it. Then I did not have the problem for many many miles. Then we sold that subaru.

Also, if you get online you can find the manual for your car. Please scroll to make sure you are on a free site. There is a free site that has a print option. Locate the schematic you need and print it.
