The Nintendo 3DS XL 2015, marketed as the New Nintendo 3DS XL, was released October 11, 2014 in Japan and February 13, 2015 in North America.

Is it the IO expander chip or something else

Bought a new console, all buttons apart from zr, c stick, home button do not function and bottom touch screen

Swapped motherboards from old and everything works fine, thought it might be residue on the lower screen stopping it from working but thought it be the IO expander chip

Anyone else have this problem?

Hi!

Thanks for the pictures!

Can't find anything weird on the motherboard, so probably something just died internally or a colt solder joint which isn't making (good) contact.

You can take the IC's off from the broken motherboard, but most likely you won't be able to see it with the eye.

Best thing is to throw away the motherboard leave it like it is..
