Acer Aspire 3 15 wont turn on, all lights off

Hi,

My Acer is not turning on at all. I tried leaving it charging for a while but nothing. I tried the reset battery button and holding the power button and it didn't work.

The little light indicator next to the battery is not turning on. I tried using the usb-c port with a charger that is confirmed to be working and nothing.

Last time I used it I turned it off normally and put it away.

Is there anything I can do?

Hi @d1300

What is the full model number of the laptop as shown on the product information label on the bottom of the laptop?

Hi

It's an acer aspire 3 15 model N23C3

@d1300

Just verifying that you tried using a charger connected to the DC charge port and also a USB-C charger to the USB-C port and neither worked, is this correct?

Yes, didn't work

Thanks for all the help

I reconnected the battery and noticed that I inserted the connector more deeply (didn't force it though) than it originally was when I opened the computer. Maybe something happened to make it a bit loose, don't know, all I know is that it's all working now.

Thanks for all the help!

Hi @d1300

How long since it was last used? If a long time I wonder if the battery is totally discharged. Perhaps try leaving a charger connected for 3-4 hours and check if it shows signs of life

It still no good, it seems like there may be a problem with the power management circuit on the motherboard as both power inputs ports (DC-IN and USB-C) aren't working.

If the motherboard model number is DA0ZAVMB8E0 here are the schematics, a link to the boardview file (you need to have a program that opens .cad files) and a video that shows how to open the laptop, that may help to find out what's wrong.

The power management circuit is on p.23 of the schematic

Hi

It was used last Thursday and it worked great. Turner it off, didn't use during the weekend.

I'll have a look, thanks for providing some info and guidance 😊

It sounds like a power delivery issue—try a different charger/power outlet, check for a faulty DC jack, or remove the battery and hold power for 60 seconds before reconnecting.

I took the battery out and connected the charger, and the computer actually turned on.

The battery looks OK though, not bloated at all.
