the remote works to turn on and off the tv. there is backlight. no response from tv to other remote buttons. buttons are producing ultraviolet when viewed by ny phone. weird. ???

What is the model number of the TV?
Does it do the same when using the TV's control buttons?
Try a power refresh and check if it resolves the problem.
Turn off the TV (if it is on) and then disconnect the power cable from the TV (or wall outlet). Press and hold the TV's (not the remote's) Power On button for a full 30 seconds and then release it. Reconnect the power to the TV and check if it turns on OK.

More trying to reset the firmware in case it was corrupted.
Presumably the TV controls didn't work either?
Try removing the batteries from the remote and check if the TV now works OK when turning it on with the TV control buttons.
tv only has one button. on off under the bottom middle.
an app did find a tcl tv but aske me to type in the code on the tv but tv only has backlight. the guy i got it from said it did work and said something i didnt listen to like it needed something. i will contact him. maybe he can explain. i think his son may have got it broken as he clears out bankrupt businesses.
According to the manual there's only on or off using the Power button, but try a short press on the Power button (after the TV is on), in case it does allow more options
he gives me tvs so i can put the boards on my garage wall. so most dont work
If you want to try and fix it, try replacing the mainboard - depending on price
Look for the board number (including any Rev. number) on the mainboard and then search online using that information.

it is a 75p8mr. not sure what happened to your answer. i accepted it and it seemed to not allow me to answer you. so i unaccepted it and now its gone.
the tv must have its computer working or ot wouldnt let me use the remote to turn it on and off. no other buttons are accepted. does nothing. no sound. nothing changes when i put a signal on the hdmi?
