Low Battery Screen only

Hey iFixit Team!

So, recently me and a buddy of mine found a box of 12 iPhones. We were piecing them back together little by little. I several of those iPhones were iPhone 8s. One in particular would not turn on, opening it showed some rust, obvious signs of water damage. We replaced the logic board and got the low battery icon when we plugged it in. Even in we unplugged it the phone showed the lightening adapter to plug the phone back in.

However, after being plugged in for over 12 hours, nothing has changed. Is the a battery issue? Maybe another board issue? Where should we check next?

Thanks in advance!

its probably the charging port itself, which I believe is seperate from the logic board. Try replacing that if you happen to have a spare.

@jfischthecat - Thanks for the suggestion. After some investigating we eventually found it was the battery. After replacing the battery it booted, but eventually shut down again. I believe the iPhone was liquid damaged at some point in its lifetime.

Liquid damage is fixable most of the time, it's usually just a matter of replacing the damaged parts. If you replace the logic board, battery, it's basically an entirely different phone. Something else must be damaged. I still suggest the charging port.

@jadonlyon Does it go black and respond to itunes etc? If so it's the backlight circuitry
